My name is MUKANDAHUNGA Fausta, a.k.a Nyabade. My heart bled, shattered into a million pieces in 2008 when I lost my anchor, my husband, leaving me pregnant with our sixth child. I became a widow, drowning in a sea of despair, lost with my six little ones.
The years that followed were a cruel, unbearable nightmare. We had nothing, absolutely nothing, no home to shelter us, no basic items, no land. The crushing weight of poverty and hardship was relentless, suffocating the hope right out of us. There was a moment, in the darkest moments of that desperation, where the pain felt so overwhelming that my children and I contemplated the unthinkable: escaping this painful existence through suicide.
Then, like a guiding star piercing through the darkness, came Jethro House Rwanda. They didn't just help us; they saved us. They reached out to us and pulled us back to life. They provided roughly 5 acres of land, built a beautiful home that we now light up with electricity, and gave my children the priceless gift of education, a dream we had to abandon because of the extreme poverty that held us captive.
Jethro House Rwanda is more than an organization to me; it is a beacon of hope, a lifeline that rescued my family and granted us a precious second chance at life.
Today, I am grateful as I look ahead and actually see a bright future for my children and me, a possibility I never, ever dared to dream of before.
