My name is Theodosia. Life as a single mother of four had always felt like an endless uphill climb. Before Jethro House Rwanda came into my life, every sunrise brought with it a new weight to carry. Each day was a desperate search for food, a silent prayer that my children would not go to bed hungry again. We had no real home, only a crumbling slum shelter with doors that couldn't lock, walls that barely stood, and floors that trembled beneath every raindrop.
At night, fear became my closest companion. I would lie awake, imagining wild animals creeping toward us, wishing I could shield my children from a world that felt too harsh, too unforgiving. When the rainy season came, I would hold my children close as water leaked through the weak roof, reminding me that even our shelter could not protect us. We had no mattresses, no blankets, nothing to soften the cold or the hunger. And then something miraculous happened.
Jethro House Rwanda stepped into our lives, and everything changed. Suddenly, I was handed a new beginning, a modern home with electricity that lit up the nights that once terrified me, and clean water flowing right in our backyard. Something I had only dreamed of, something I thought was meant only for others.
They gave us dignity. They gave us comfort. They ensured we had medical insurance so my children and I could finally receive care without fear. They even sent my kids to school, opening doors to a future brighter than anything I could have imagined.
And as if all this wasn't enough, they placed in my hands a chance to build my own livelihood, pigs that would help me support my family and stand on my own two feet.
